Our Job Centre is made up of a professional (but not profit-driven) Placement Agency geared towards servicing the market as well as all graduates from our WORK 4 A LIVING Job Skills Workshops.

2 weeks program

Teaches:

  • How to be promoted

  • How to work to a standard of excellence

  • Financial Literacy

  • Principles of how to start & run a business

Addresses ideological barriers

  • Poverty mindset

  • Spirit of entitlement

  • Dependency syndrome

  • Morals & ethics

Application Requirements

Course fees: R100

Documentation:

  • Copy of your ID
  • Copy of your Grade 12 Certificate if you have one.
Getting a Job

Students who show excellence in the following criteria are selected for a reference certificate:

  • Fluent English
  • Friendliness
  • Reliability
  • Strong work ethic

The Process:

  • Complete the W4aL program
  • A company requests staff
  • We place a Job Opportunity on Facebook
  • Interested students come in for a screening interview
  • Suitable candidates are sent for an interview with the company.
WORK 4 A LIVING is NOT responsible for finding you a job. We teach you how to find your own. You will only be added to the Job Centre database if you meet our standards.

PHASE 2: Specific Skills

The Phase 2 Skills will assist you in tailoring your abilities, having training in specific skills will help make you a more favourable applicant for the job market. Certificates are issued if the course is completed and paid for in full. Please book your space in advance as classes fill up quickly.

Computer Literacy

Fee: R500 (R800 if you have not taken the WORK 4 A LIVING programme.)

2 Week programme from 08:00 – 16:00

Space is limited, so please book your place in advance.

The course covers:

  • The basic computer technology

  • Microsoft Office programs like  Excel and Word

  • How to use the internet  and an Email service

Final exam has a pass requirement of 75%

Waitering

Fee: R400

1 Week from 13:00 – 15:30

The course covers the basics of:

  • Waitering

  • Table set and serving etiquette

  • Bay management

  • Cleaning, hygiene and communication in the kitchen

  • Wine stewarding and understanding the menu

Office Management

Fee: R400

1 Week from 13:00 – 16:00

The course covers the basics of:

  • Office procedure

  • Administration

  • Practical application

  • Receptionist responsibilities

  • Office technology

  • Grooming and etiquette

Merchandising

Fee: R200

5 Day programme from 13:00 – 16:00

Course covers:

  • Definitions and Terminology

  • Types of merchandising

  • The merchandising cycle

Cashier & Point of sales

Fee: R400

3 Day programme from 13:00 – 16:00

Course starts every Tuesday

Course covers:

  • Customer service

  • Telephone skills

  • How to operate a till

Business

Fee: R400

5 Day programme from 09:00-15:00

Course covers:

  • How to start & grow a business
  • Business plans and applying for funding

PLEASE NOTE: You will not be issued with your Phase 2 certificate until you have paid the fees and completed the WORK 4 A LIVING programme.
